Basketball Game Preview: Escalante Moquis vs. Panguitch Bobcats

Escalante is 0-10 against Panguitch since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Escalante Moquis will challenge the Panguitch Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Escalante took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Vanguard Academy by a score of 45-34.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Escalante to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sonata Griffin, who posted 11 points. That's the most points Griffin has posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Panguitch earned a 48-36 victory over Valley last Wednesday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Buffalos recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Panguitch's win came from a few key players Escalante will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tayt Miller, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Henrie, who earned two points along with 15 boards and eight assists.

Panguitch's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Escalante, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Escalante was dealt a bruising 56-14 loss at the hands of Panguitch in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Escalante was down 32-11.
