After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Narbonne, Jefferson was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Manual Arts Toilers 27-3. The result was nothing new for the Democrats, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Valerie Echevarria made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Echevarria was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jefferson got a massive performance out of Brenda Hernandez, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 5-for-5. Those two home runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Garcia, who fired off one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases while going 5-for-5.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Jefferson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Manual Arts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.
As of now, neither Jefferson nor the Toilers have any future games scheduled.
