La Marque suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: La Marque Cougars vs. Columbia Roughnecks

The La Marque Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Columbia on the road and fell 58-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Marque has scored all season.

Alexia Lewis had a dynamite game for Columbia, scoring 23 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ayvah Fields, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds.

La Marque's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 10-19.

La Marque will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Sweeny presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Texas (the Bulldogs are ranked 650th, while the Cougars are ranked 1312th). As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to take on the Exporters at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brazosport and the Roughnecks are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
