Softball Recap: Central Cabarrus Takes a Loss

Central Cabarrus entered their matchup against West Rowan on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Central Cabarrus Vikings fell 5-1 to the West Rowan Falcons. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Taryn Jenkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Central Cabarrus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Rezy, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Central Cabarrus' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for West Rowan, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Coming up, Central Cabarrus will be playing at home against Hickory Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Cabarrus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for West Rowan, they will challenge East Rowan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
