Basketball Recap: Weedsport's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Weedsport walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over the Alexandria Central Purple Ghosts on Friday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Purple Ghosts are ranked 917th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Weedsport's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Alexandria Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

Looking ahead, Weedsport will venture away from home to challenge Cato-Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Alexandria Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
