Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Mecklenburg). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 66-30 win over the Independence Patriots. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 34 point advantage.

East Mecklenburg found their leader in freshman Samariah Freeman, who went 10 for 16 on her way to 22 points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Freeman has scored all season. Kameyah Browm was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

East Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Independence, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

East Mecklenburg and Independence could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. East Mecklenburg (ranked 400th) will meet Charlotte Catholic (ranked 158th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Independence (ranked 439th) will meet Rocky River (ranked 141st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
