Football Recap: Shoshone Indians vs. North Gem Cowboys
Shoshone gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They strolled past the North Gem Cowboys with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Craig Yost and Rusty Hatch certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Yost rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, while Hatch rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Yost also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making 16 total tackles.
North Gem's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Shoshone will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Richfield at 7:00 p.m. on October 4th. As for North Gem, they will square off against Watersprings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Gem focused on turnovers this week as team gave up five on Friday.
