Softball Preview: Robertson Cardinals vs. West Las Vegas Dons

Robertson is 8-2 against West Las Vegas since May of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Robertson Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Las Vegas Dons at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Robertson made easy work of Santa Fe Indian and carried off an 11-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Robertson.

Taylor Quintana made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Quintana has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Quintana was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Anissa Sanchez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, everything went West Las Vegas' way against Albuquerque Academy on Friday as West Las Vegas made off with a 13-5 victory.

Like Robertson, West Las Vegas also got a great game from a two-way player: Malie Satete. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing an inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Satete was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Ilyanna Gettler looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Tyra Horner and Alexis Pacheco did most of the damage at the plate: Horner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Pacheco went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Annabelle Ulibarri was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Robertson pushed their record up to 13-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for West Las Vegas, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.
