Softball Recap: Dunellen Comes Up Short

Dunellen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Bloomfield Bengals, falling 14-2.

Alexa DeVesa was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. DeVesa is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kyla Fucito, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Dunellen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bloomfield, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coming up, Dunellen will be playing in front of their home fans against Somerset Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bloomfield, they are taking a road trip to square off against Glen Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ridgers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
