Basketball Game Preview: Whiting Oilers vs. Hobart Brickies

Whiting hasn't had much luck against Hobart recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Whiting Oilers are taking a road trip to challenge the Hobart Brickies at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Whiting is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 31st straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Chesterton and fell 79-17. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Trojans are ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Hobart came up short against Merrillville on Saturday and fell 70-62. The Brickies have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Hobart's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Whiting, their loss dropped their record down to 0-21.

Whiting came up short against Hobart when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 66-55. Can Whiting avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
