Softball Recap: Colbert County's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Two

With a playoff win on the line, Colbert County rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rogers Pirates a 5-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Not much got past Makayli Davis, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Rogers off the board. Davis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colbert County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harmonie McClain, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Hallie Holland was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Colbert County's victory bumped their record up to 19-15-1. As for Rogers, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-21 record this season.

Rogers didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-0 win against Clements on the 28th. Hopefully Colbert County paid attention to the Pirates' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
