Basketball Recap: Mariner Takes a Loss

Mariner is still winless after their matchup against North Fort Myers on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Fort Myers Red Knights. The Tritons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Mariner's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for North Fort Myers, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mariner will take on Gateway in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mariner surely won't give up without a fight. North Fort Myers and Island Coast will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
