Volleyball Recap: North Reading's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

North Reading managed to slip by Lynnfield the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hornets came up short against the Pioneers on Monday, falling 3-0. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

North Reading was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-10, 25-18.

Elliana Moretti was nothing short of spectacular for Lynnfield: she had 22 digs and four aces. Moretti is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

North Reading's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Lynnfield, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. North Reading will challenge rival Triton Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lynnfield is set to square off against their familiar foe Georgetown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
