Basketball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral lost against Riverside back in November of 2015 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chaparral Lobos were beaten by the Riverside Rangers 67-32. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lobos came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 104th in New Mexico, while the Rangers are ranked 1457th in Texas).

Chaparral dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Riverside, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Chaparral won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gadsden at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Chaparral is facing Gadsden at the right time seeing as Gadsden is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Riverside, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Harmony Science Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Riverside will also cruise into their next game with the timing on their side: Harmony Science Academy will have lost three straight heading into Friday's contest.
