Merritt Island waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They blew past the Mount Dora Hurricanes 3-0.

While Merritt Island won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 25-13.

Sarah Niazi was nothing short of spectacular: she had 24 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Amber Ives, who had 21 assists and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Merritt Island was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests.

Merritt Island's record now sits at 23-2. As for Mount Dora, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

As of now, neither Merritt Island nor the Hurricanes have any future games scheduled.
