Merritt Island waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They blew past the Mount Dora Hurricanes 3-0.

Merritt Island never let Mount Dora on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-13.

Sarah Niazi was nothing short of spectacular: she had 24 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Ives, who had 21 assists and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Merritt Island was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matches.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hollis Husebo, who had five digs and two aces.

Merritt Island's victory bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Mount Dora, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

Merritt Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mount Dora, they will face off against Tavares at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
