Basketball Game Preview: Los Lunas Tigers vs. Alamogordo Tigers

The Los Lunas Tigers will challenge the Alamogordo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Los Lunas is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Los Lunas is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Organ Mountain on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Los Lunas lost 58-35 to Organ Mountain. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Knights are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Alamogordo took on Deming on Tuesday. Alamogordo put the hurt on Deming with a sharp 59-36 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 20 point advantage.

Alamogordo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Los Lunas, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Los Lunas didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Alamogordo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, but they still walked away with a 61-55 win.
