Recap: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Holdrege Dusters
The Sandy Creek Cougars lost against the Holdrege Dusters back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sandy Creek suffered a tough 51-27 loss at the hands of Holdrege. Sandy Creek has not had much luck with Holdrege recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Emma Fisher and Ryleigh Skalka certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Fisher scored nine points along with eight rebounds, while Skalka scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Skalka scored a full 40.7% of Sandy Creek's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Sandy Creek's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Holdrege, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Sandy Creek will head out on the road to face off against Wilber-Clatonia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilber-Clatonia is on a three-game streak of home losses, Sandy Creek a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Holdrege will be home for the holidays to greet Gothenburg on Friday.
