Softball Game Preview: Carroll County Panthers vs. Southern Trojans

The Carroll County Panthers will take on the Southern Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carroll County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Carroll County nor Walton-Verona made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bearcats a 6-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mallory Noble made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brinley Couch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adree Dermon, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Southern came up short against Fern Creek on Thursday, falling 15-2. The Trojans have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Carroll County's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
