Basketball Recap: Bountiful Drops Highest Score of Season Against Payson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bountiful). Everything went their way against the Payson Lions on Thursday as they made off with a 69-43 win. With that victory, the Redhawks brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.

Bountiful was led to victory by Milika Satuala and Maleah Nelson. Satuala went 11-for-14 en route to 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Nelson shot 64% from the field to rack up 18 points and four steals. The last time Nelson's shooting accuracy was this high was back in January. Brynna Castleton was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Bountiful was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Bountiful and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Payson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Bountiful will head out to square off against Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redhawks will need to watch out since the Golden Eagles have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Payson, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against American Fork at 7:00 p.m.
