Softball Recap: Johnson County Victorious

While Johnson County put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for West Greene. The Longhorns came out on top against the Buffaloes by a score of 4-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 on Monday.

Ezzy Barr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Clara Wilson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Johnson County and bumps their season record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for West Greene, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnson County will square off against Cloudland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Greene, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Unicoi County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
