Baseball Game Preview: Chatham Charter Knights vs. South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls

The Chatham Charter Knights will challenge the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Chatham Charter's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Southern Wake Academy with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Zach Cartrette made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Chatham Charter let Tyner Williams and Brandon Rives run wild. Williams scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Rives scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Westin Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Chatham Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, South Stanly waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with an 11-0 victory.

South Stanly's win was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Crump, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Chatham Charter now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chatham Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .434. However, it's not like South Stanly struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
