Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Costa Mesa's 14th in Last 16 Outings

Costa Mesa won against Covina on Saturday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-3 win over the Buena Park Coyotes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Troy Simmonds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grady Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Mateo Navarro was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Costa Mesa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Buena Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Costa Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Buena Park: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
