Basketball Recap: Brookhaven Takes a Loss

Brookhaven lost against Natchez back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Brookhaven Panthers took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Natchez Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 48th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Natchez to victory, but perhaps none more so than RONIYA ELLIS, who posted 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was CALEAH KENNEDY, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Brookhaven and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Natchez, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookhaven will venture away from home to square off against South Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Natchez, they will head out to challenge North Pike at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
