Baseball Recap: Highland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Highland dropped their record down to 16-11 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mountain View Toros by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Highland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Tarwater, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Tarwater is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Mountain View's side, the result came thanks to Justice Yanke's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. Yanke also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Toros are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.

Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain View, they will venture away from home to take on Desert Vista at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Toros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
