Softball Game Preview: Yosemite Badgers vs. Caruthers Blue Raiders

Yosemite is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caruthers Blue Raiders at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Yosemite took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Firebaugh with a sharp 14-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Badgers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Natalie Misa was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Taylor Bullock was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, while Caruthers put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Mendota. Caruthers blew past Mendota 18-0. The Blue Raiders haven't had any issues with the Aztecs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Caruthers back to even at 1-1. As for Yosemite, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Yosemite was able to grind out a solid win over Caruthers when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 8-5. Will Yosemite repeat their success, or does Caruthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
