Volleyball Recap: Lutheran Falls Short Against Ranked St. Dominic

Lutheran faced St. Dominic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars fell 2-0 to the Crusaders. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Kemp North paced Lutheran's offense, picking up eight kills. North got some help from Charlie Bennett and his 22 assists.

St. Dominic found their leader in sophomore James Campbell, who had 11 digs and one assist.

This is the second loss in a row for Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 5-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 De Smet Jesuit (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85.7% over those games). As for St. Dominic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against St. Louis University on the 31st. As for St. Dominic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against De Smet Jesuit on the 29th.
