Baseball Recap: Franklin County Tech Comes Up Short

Franklin County Tech had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-2 to make it six. They fell just short of the McCann Tech Hornets by a score of 6-5. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Tyler Yetter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Caleb Dillensneider, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

As for McCann Tech, their record now sits at 2-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On McCann Tech's side, Brody Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Turner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Rylander, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Franklin County Tech will venture away from home to take on Smith Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCann Tech, they will welcome Lee at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
