League recap: St. Martin stuns Harrison Central in upset

6A Region 4 recap November 5, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Martin, who took down 29th ranked Harrison Central, 14-10. Tyler Polk threw for 40 yards and ran for 143 yards in the win.

Fans got a thrill when Damlon May and Tim Jones connected against Hancock. The connection went for 95 yards, the longest such play in 6A Region 4 this season.

Ed Day threw for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 16-31 with 1 interception.

Marlon Richardson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Hattiesburg lost to D'Iberville. He grabbed 1 sack.

Jones was the best receiver in the league this week as Biloxi defeated the Hawks. Jones racked up 3 receptions for 154 yards.

Gulfport's Thad Miller and Richaud Floyd have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 2,378 yards this season, while Floyd has 63 catches for 842 yards. The Yellowjackets' Polk leads the league in rushing yards with 1,556.

A big matchup in 6A Region 4 this week will be when St. Martin takes on the Warriors. Eddie Whitehead's team is in third place, while D'Iberville is in second place.

The Tigers fell to Buddy Singletown's team 41-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Quavier Hammond was a bright spot for Hattiesburg, as he ran for 127 yards in the loss.
