Basketball Game Preview: Claymont Mustangs vs. Cambridge Bobcats

Claymont hasn't had much luck against Cambridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Claymont Mustangs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Cambridge Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Claymont lost 50-27 to Tuscarawas Valley on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 558th, while the Trojans are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, Cambridge played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Bellaire, falling 51-28. The Bobcats have struggled against the Big Reds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Cambridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Claymont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Claymont suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to Cambridge when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Claymont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
