Basketball Recap: Quince Orchard Falls Despite Big Games from Evelyn Steele and Lena Wolle

Quince Orchard lost against Wootton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Quince Orchard Cougars fell 50-39 to the Wootton Patriots. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Quince Orchard's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lena Wolle, who posted 11 points, and Evelyn Steele, who put up six points and 11 blocks. Those 11 blocks gave Steele a new career-high.

Maya Bellamy was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds for Wootton. Bellamy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Bellamy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Quince Orchard now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Wootton, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Quince Orchard will challenge Wheaton at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Quince Orchard is facing Wheaton at the right time seeing as Wheaton is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Wootton, they are taking a road trip to take on Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Sherwood will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Wootton surely won't give up without a fight.
