Softball Game Preview: Mayfield Cardinals vs. Hickman County Falcons

Mayfield is 2-8 against Hickman County since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Mayfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Hickman County at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mayfield came up short against Graves County on Tuesday, falling 21-1. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Hickman County was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They lost 13-1 to Marshall County. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Marshals recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Hickman County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Tucker, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hickman County's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Mayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Mayfield beat Hickman County 5-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Mayfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickman County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
