Basketball Preview: Clewiston Tigers vs. Avon Park Red Devils        
        
		
             The Clewiston Tigers will head out to  challenge the Avon Park Red Devils  at 7:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Hopefully Clewiston focused on turnovers this week  as the team gave up 24 on Friday.
 Clewiston is headed into the  game out to prove that what happened against Glades Central  on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Clewiston was beaten by Glades Central 82-42. The Tigers have now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Despite the  loss, Clewiston got top-tier performance from   Derrick Webber, who  went 8 for 13 en route to 17 points plus six  rebounds and four  steals. With that strong performance,  Webber is now averaging an impressive 2.2  steals per game.  Jamarian Pope was another key player,  going 6 for 15 en route to 14 points.
 Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better  (just ask Avon Park). They blew past DeSoto County 83-60 on Friday. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
 Avon Park pushed their record up to 4-1 with the  win, which was their third straight  at home. As for Clewiston, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
 Everything came up roses for Clewiston against Avon Park in their previous matchup  back in January of 2022, as the  team secured  an  86-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clewiston since the  squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
