Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Veritas Christian Academy lost against North County Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Veritas Christian Academy Eagles fell 68-56 to North County Christian. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Veritas Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Luke Niemeyer went 12 of 25 en route to 26 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Niemeyer a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Markham, who posted 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Veritas Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Veritas Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for North County Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Veritas Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Elsberry at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North County Christian, they will challenge Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
