Softball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Ross Rams

For the second straight game, Franklin will face off against Ross. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Franklin took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Ross, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rams 12-10. Franklin's victory was all the more impressive since the Rams were averaging only 3.83 runs allowed on the season.

Hailey Cooper was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cooper was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sarah Brooks was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Whitt, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Ross' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
