Recap: Providence Academy vs. King's Academy Lions
Providence Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 75-50 defeat at the hands of King's Academy. Providence Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as King's Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Isaiah Peters-Daniels and Nash Martinez certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Peters-Daniels scored 20 points along with two steals, while Martinez scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Peters-Daniels is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Montrel Sarden, who scored six points.
Harrison Rollins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for King's Academy, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds. Rollins also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luka Horvatic, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Providence Academy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. As for King's Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-18.
Providence Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeway Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Providence Academy is coming into the match with four straight losses at home, meaning Lakeway Christian Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for King's Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Christian Academy of Knoxville at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. King's Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
