Baseball Recap: Mariner Wins Going Away Against Cape Coral

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Riverview Sarasota, Mariner was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Cape Coral Seahawks 14-4. The Tritons haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Xavier Muentes was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Princeton (PJ) Marino was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Mariner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mariner's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Cape Coral, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Mariner will challenge Out-of-Door Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Tritons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cape Coral, they will face off against Ida Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Seahawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
