Basketball Recap: Warren Township Comes Up Short

Warren Township was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a hard 60-41 fall against the Waukegan Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-35 back in December of 2024.

Waukegan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evelyn Petty led the charge by going 6 of 9 on her way to 16 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Petty a new career-high. Baakir Christian was another key player, going 6 for 7 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Warren Township's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Waukegan, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.

Warren Township has already played their next match (against Zion-Benton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Waukegan will challenge Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waukegan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
