Preview: Tuscarawas Valley Trojans vs. Strasburg-Franklin Tigers
Tuscarawas Valley and Strasburg-Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tuscarawas Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Last Friday, Tuscarawas Valley lost to Malvern at home by a decisive 59-44 margin. Tuscarawas Valley has not had much luck with Malvern recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Tuscarawas Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from John Leffler, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Leffler is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Clements, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Strasburg-Franklin's 18-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 55-40 bruising from Claymont on Friday. Strasburg-Franklin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tuscarawas Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Tuscarawas Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Strasburg-Franklin in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, winning 44-34. Does Tuscarawas Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Strasburg-Franklin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
