Basketball Game Preview: Woodmont Wildcats vs. Mauldin Mavericks

Woodmont is 2-8 against Mauldin since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Woodmont Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Mauldin Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. Woodmont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

If Mauldin heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Woodmont took over last week. Woodmont enjoyed a cozy 67-49 victory over Greenwood on Friday.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Mauldin was not quite J.L. Mann's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell 69-59 to the Patriots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mavericks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Patriots are ranked 91st).

Woodmont now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mauldin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Woodmont, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-54 loss to Mauldin in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Woodmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
