Volleyball Game Preview: Castle Knights vs. Plainfield Quakers

After both having extra time off, the Castle Knights and the Plainfield Quakers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Castle comes in on 16 and Plainfield on five.

Castle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Bloomington South by a score of 3-1.

Castle can attribute much of their success to Karsyn Wilhelmus, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Meanwhile, Plainfield got the win against Lawrence North on Saturday by a conclusive 3-0.

Castle better focus on containing Taylor Donovan and Savannah Brock as the pair were huge in Plainfield's win. Donovan had 19 digs and four assists, while Brock had 12 digs and two assists. Donovan is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 27-5. As for Castle, their victory bumped their record up to 31-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Castle has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Plainfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
