Basketball Recap: Minden Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

Minden had won nine straight road games dating back to last season and Mattie Kamery did her part to make it ten on Thursday. The Minden Whippets blew past the Wood River Eagles 70-26 thanks in part to Kamery, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Another player making a difference was Myla Emery, who posted seven points in addition to seven steals and six assists. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Wood River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lainey Paulk earned ten points. Courtney Dimmitt was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Minden is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points over those games. Wood River has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Minden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-33 victory against Fairbury on the 19th. As for Wood River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-46 defeat against Doniphan-Trumbull on the 14th.
