Softball Recap: Wetumpka Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Wetumpka came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tallassee Tigers 12-1. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Lexie Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Taylor Carlisle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wetumpka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Wetumpka's victory bumped their record up to 35-5. As for Tallassee, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Looking ahead, Wetumpka is taking a road trip to square off against Prattville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 2.5, the Lions 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tallassee, they will square off against Elmore County at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
