Basketball Game Preview: Alta-Aurelia Warriors vs. South Central Calhoun Titans

Alta-Aurelia hasn't had much luck against South Central Calhoun recently, but that could start to change on Friday. South Central Calhoun will be up against a hot Alta-Aurelia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Alta-Aurelia breezed by Storm Lake St. Mary to the tune of 64-28 on Tuesday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 36 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, South Central Calhoun came up short against Humboldt on Tuesday and fell 64-57. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Wildcats are ranked 117th).

Alta-Aurelia pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for South Central Calhoun, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-8.
