Softball Recap: River Ridge Gets the Win

River Ridge's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Sunlake Seahawks by a score of 8-4. The Royal Knights haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Lilly Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. Jackson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Schuler, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Schuler also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

The victory got River Ridge back to even at 6-6. As for Sunlake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge will venture away from home to square off against Academy of the Holy Names at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. River Ridge's pitchers better be ready for this one: Academy of the Holy Names has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Sunlake, they will head out to challenge Hudson at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
