Volleyball Game Preview: Sherman Tide vs. Riverside Warriors

The Sherman Tide will square off against the Riverside Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Sherman's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Riverside has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Tuesday, Sherman made easy work of Van and carried off a 3-0 win.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-2, 25-20.

Sherman can attribute much of their success to Emma Russell, who had 20 assists, and Audrina Smith, who had seven digs and two aces. Russell has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, Riverside posted their closest victory since September 23rd on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lincoln County 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Riverside had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 16-25, 25-14, 26-24, 15-12.

Sherman's win bumped their record up to 17-7-1. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 10-17.

Sherman came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverside in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Tide repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
