Recap: Ridgecroft Rams vs. Lawrence Academy Warriors
Even though the Lawrence Academy Warriors scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Ridgecroft Rams still came out on top. Ridgecroft walked away with a 70-59 victory over Lawrence Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ridgecroft.
Ridgecroft's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baylor Edwards, who scored 21 points. The match was Edwards' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jay Gaston, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mari Larry, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nike Wiggins, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lawrence Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ridgecroft's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lawrence Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgecroft won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Surry County at 1:30 p.m. on January 6th. As for Lawrence Academy, they will be playing at home against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
