Basketball Preview: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Braden River Pirates
The Boca Ciega Pirates and the Braden River Pirates will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boca Ciega has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Boca Ciega beat the Packers 53-49. The victory was just what Boca Ciega needed coming off of a 70-48 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Braden River made easy work of the Vikings on Friday and carried off a 47-22 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Braden River just coasted through the last quarter.
Kelis Mcgrady and Emily Dalton were among the main playmakers for Braden River as the former scored nine points along with four steals and the latter scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Dalton has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Alexa Helton was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Boca Ciega's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Braden River, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.
