Blacksburg entered their tilt with Salem on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp  9-2 win. The Bruins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.
 Blacksburg let  Jack Mann and  Major Marshall run wild. Mann  went 1-for-3 with three  RBI and one  run, while  Marshall  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Keefer Caldwell, who  went 1-for-2 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
Blacksburg's victory was  their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 9-1. The  road  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Salem, their loss  ended  a  nine-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 7-3.
 Blacksburg and Salem should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Bruins (ranked 18th) will meet Hidden Valley (ranked 161st)  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile,  Salem will  face off against  Patrick Henry  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday with a big rank  advantage  (45 vs. 264).
