Softball Recap: Logan County Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Logan County faced off against Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday. The Cougars fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Addison Cartas was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sadie Violette was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits were her first of the season. Kalie Taylor was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Logan County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Franklin-Simpson, they moved to 7-7-1 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Coming up, Logan County will be playing at home against Johnson Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin-Simpson, they are taking a road trip to challenge Westmoreland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
